IMG_1129The Islamic Centre in Zagreb hosted on Friday and Saturday, March 6 – 7 2015, the international symposium on “Relation between Religious and National Features in the Identity and Reality of the Balkan People”. The symposium was organized by the Bosniak National Community of the City of Zagreb and Zagreb County with the Ibn Sina Science-Research Institute. Co-organizer of the symposium was the Assembly (Majlis) of the Islamic Community in Zagreb.

At the opening ceremony, the president of the Science Council emeritus professor Dr Esad Ćimić addressed the audience along with, president of the Organisational Committee dipl. ing. Dževad Jogunčić (president of the Bosniak National Community of the City of Zagreb and Zagreb County), and Dr Gzim Redžepi, president of the Executive Board of the Assembly of Islamic Community in Zagreb. Among the guests in the conference hall “h. Salim Šabić” were the mayor of Zagreb, Milan Bandić, the former president of the Mashihat of the Islamic Community in Croatia, mufti Ševko Omerbašić, ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Croatia, H. E. Mohammed Ebrahim Taherian Fard, and numerous representative from the academia and cultural and religious workers. Throughout the two-day symposium, twenty-nine papers from authors from Croatia, Slovenia, FYR of Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Iran were presented.
